Yale Dealer of Excellence

Over the years, Wheeler Material Handling has been honored to be recognized by a number of outside organizations for our outstanding performance as a Yale dealer and overall company.

Outside Recognition for Outstanding Performance

Wheeler Material Handling has been fortunate to win the Yale Dealer of Excellence award four times - as well as the Yale Dealer of Value award four times since 1988. In addition, Business North Carolina magazine named Wheeler Material Handling in the "Fast 40" top companies for 2012, where we finished #26 of the fastest growing mid-size companies in North Carolina. WMH previously won the "Fast 50" award in 1994 from the same organization. Ernst & Young awarded us their "Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 2012 recognizing top companies in the southeast.

Our Success is because of You

WMH recognizes that the outside recognition for our outstanding market performance is a direct result of our customers, our 200+ associates we employ, and our supplier base. We are grateful for the support and understand that we have to continue to earn your business and trust every day.

Ernst & Young awards Entrepreneur of Year to Wheeler Material Handling

Atlanta, GA: Ernst & Young LLP has named Wheeler Material Handling, Inc. President C. Gray Wheeler as Entrepreneur of the Year for the Southeast region. The program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. The independent judging committee was impressed by Wheeler Material Handling' revenue and profitability dramatically outpacing the broader material handling industry, and by the company's "no layoffs" policy throughout the deep recession.

"We knew in 2007 that we were about to face an economic downturn of legendary proportions," said Wheeler. "So we pared down the company's debt, and I repeatedly visited each of our branches, presenting our team members was the same deal: create value for the company in the downturn and devote your lost time to internally-managed professional training, and you will keep your job. We emerged from the recession with more knowledgeable managers, administrators, salespeople, and technicians. Not to mention that we had the workforce that our customers demanded when they started buying and servicing their equipment again."

"The award recipients are truly dynamic leaders who strive for business excellence and market leadership, and we are lucky to celebrate their tireless and inspirational efforts," said Connie Austin, Southeast Entrepreneur Of The Year partner at E&Y. Wheeler has worked at Wheeler Material Handling since 2004, first as CFO, then as COO, and the last five years the company's President. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, where his classmates elected him to be their graduation speaker, and a B.A. from University of Virginia, with highest distinction.
